Dental fillings
If you have tooth decay or damage don’t worry, we can repair your teeth, using a composite (white) filling. Made from tooth-coloured resin, we can blend your filling to match your teeth, making it indistinguishable in your mouth and retaining your natural smile.
How your treatment works
A filling is a simple treatment, done under local anaesthetic if needed. First, the dentist will remove the decayed or damaged section of tooth. They will then clean the area, apply a bonding gel to the tooth before ‘filling’ the tooth with the composite material, applying the composite in layers while moulding it to the exact shape of the original tooth, and setting it with a blue curing light. Once the filling has been finished it should feel completely natural in your mouth. After the anaesthetic wears off you will have restored functionality and be able to eat, drink and talk as normal. To keep your filling in good condition, you should follow a good oral hygiene routine and visit your dentist for regular check-ups.
The benefits of composite fillings
Composite fillings have an advantage over traditional amalgam (silver) fillings as they can be colour matched to your natural teeth, becoming invisible in your mouth. Made from a modern durable material, we can use composite fillings to restore decayed, chipped, worn or broken teeth. With composite resin we don’t have to remove as much of the existing tooth to add the filling, meaning they are a less invasive and more ethical choice.
